Decorating with Glee: Sneak Peek - Rachel's Dorm Room

Last night a Glee fan asked me if I could source the bedding from Rachel's dorm room and provided me with a picture of the new season 4 set (apparently taken by an extra) -

Always up for a challenge I set off in search of mythical season 4 bedding (okay, that's a little overkill, but this is a Decorating with Glee post, so being overly dramatic is just par for the course).

And beating my own personal best, I sourced that puppy in under 30 minutes -

It's the Springmaid Lindsay Sage Brush Duvet Set and you can pick it up from Target.com for under $80!

Thanks Spencer for being such a loyal Decorating with Glee fan!

Decorating With Glee: An Update

Recently I was asked if I could do an update on Rachel's room from Glee.  The bedding I had found before is no longer available, so I went on the hunt again for some Rachelish bedding options.  Here is what I found -

None of these are exact matches for Rachel's bedding, but any of them would work in a Rachel inspired room.

Decorating With Glee: Kurt's Room

When it comes to tricked out bedrooms, you can't get much cooler than Kurt Hummel's from Glee.

The first thing most people noticed when Kurt's room was featured was that there doesn't seem that Kurt has a bed, just a couple of sofas and other seating. You can find a million and one theories on where Kurt lays his head if you poke around the web long enough. I'm going to take the stance that his sofas are actually daybeds with custom pillows and call it a day.

Another things people seem to notice is that for a man with a lot of accessories, Kurt's room lacks storage other than two shelving units in one corner.

And of course with this being Kurt's room, he needs a space where he can recover at a hard football game.

Now, not all of Kurt's room is dedicated to fun and games, his sleek desk area is the perfect place to work on homework (or plans of glee club domination, whatever floats you boat).

Who knew a basement in Ohio could be so awesome?

Decorating With Glee: Rachel's Room (part 2)

I know it's been a little while since our last Decorating With Glee post, but there is a reason for that - see, the first post covered some of Rachel's furniture that was easily recognized (e.i. the Pottery Barn bed, the Ikea dresser), but this time we're taking a more inspired approach. . . or in other words, I spent way too much time trying to match exact items and almost gave up completely when that didn't work out. . . So with further ado, here is some Rachel Berry inspired decor -

Rachel's Bedding

One thing you'll notice is that Rachel has some very mis-matched bedding-

Target's Firecracker quilt is a great match for Rachel's reddish orange floral and lime green reversible coverlet, throw in light pink sheets, few darker pink throw pillows (both also from Target) and Ikea orange throw and you've got yourself a dead ringer for Miss Berry's bedding

I know, I know it doesn't look like it will all work together, but take a closer look at the floral pattern on the quilt and you'll notice that it has pink and orange mixed right in-

Once you have the furniture and bedding down you throw in some Rachelish accessories and you are good to go!

You've got Broadway covered with a Hair poster and a Wicked playbill. A girlie flowered lamp shade and lots of little vases in pink, red, and turquoise from Ikea. . . A super cute stuffed dog to keep you company. A little wall art, a covered glass dish, a place to hold your jewelry, and a framed picture of Finn - what else does a girl need?

Decorating with Glee: Rachel's Room

I bet you thought I forgot that I said I was going to do a series of posts on the different rooms of some of the Glee characters. . . Well, I didn't. So we are starting off with the bare bones of Rachel's bedroom.

screenshots from Glee are from gleeimages.com

There are a few pieces of furniture in Rachel's room that are recognizable. So that's where will start.

Rachel's bed is a Farmhouse Canopy Bed from Pottery Barn that has been painted white, her bedside tables are the famous Lack Tables from Ikea in pink (which, sadly, are no longer available), her dresser is the Hemnes Dresser from Ikea in white, and the chair behind her bedroom door is the Over-Lapping Squares Side Chair from West Elm.

So if you want your very on Rachel Room these pieces are where you should start - in the next "Decorating with Glee" post we'll take a look at her accessories.
