Again with the Sofas

My Great Sofa Search of 2009 has been over for a while, but all my looking must have warn off on my mother, all of a sudden I found myself looking at sofas all over again - this time for her living room. Having a lot more space to fill than I do she ended up with three pieces from Rooms To Go -

The fact that she ended up with Rooms To Go furniture is quite funny, because for years she hated the idea of Rooms To Go. My mom was a strong believer in 30 year furniture, but after she saw this set she changed her tune - maybe it was okay to purchase cheaper furniture every ten years or so, and not have to be stuck with a sofa you bought in the 1970's (said sofa went off with me to college and eventually died in my college apartment's living room).

Heck, with four cats she'll be lucky if any sofa lasts 5 years in her house. So after a few week of debating, and pondering, and all kinds of other nonsense, she finally bit the bullet and purchased her new living room set.

And guess what? She loves it! She loves it so much that she is now debating and pondering buying a new console for the television my dad bought her for Christmas (yeah, he really bought the 52 inch plasma for her "wink,wink")

Sofa Search Ended

The search is over - I have found my sofa!

During my week off from work I found my sofa.

I first when to Macy's to look at their Corona sofa - and I loved loved loved it, but I am 99.9% sure that Emmett would have a hole in it within a week. . .

So then I moved on to City Furniture where I found this beauty:

Clean lines, tufted back, comfy as all heck, super-duper affordable (a mere $500), and back-ordered in black leather. . . That's my luck lately. . . after listing the pro and cons in my head, and then dragging my mother, sister, and aunt out to see it I decided to go ahead and take the plunge.

I should be taking naps on this baby by the middle of September. . .

Sofa Search - City

The final stop on my virtual sofa search is City Furniture. They're affordable and have tons of options. . . I think in the end I will end up with a City sofa.

My mother got her club chairs that I love so much there. . . I've planned a small field trip to their Sawgrass showroom and clearance center for Saturday - so wish me luck!

Sofa Search - Update

I mentioned before that I've been to both Rooms To Go and Badcock to look at their sofas in person. I found a usable option at both stores:

Please excuse the low quality camera phone pictures - the color is horribly off in each photo. The sofa on the top is from the Condo Collection at Rooms To Go and is actually a nice gray color. The sofa on the bottom is from Badcock and is actually a pretty dark brown color.

So the one thing we know for certain is that I like square sofas with tufted cushions. . .

Sofa Search - Rooms To Go

I'm cheating a little on this post. . . while I did do an online search of Rooms To Go's sofas last week, my mom and I ended up going to see them in person this past Sunday, so this post is a little late. I found 3 options instore -

1. a gray "condo length" sofa (not pictured), the only thing I wasn't crazy about is the fact that you can't lay out on it
2. the sectional pictured below - I wasn't trilled with the color options
3. and a brown micro-suede couch (not pictures) that was only sold as a set (and well, I don't have the room for a set)

Sofa Search - Carl's

Okay, I don't know why I included Carl's in my online search other than the fact that there is a Carl's store on every other corner (maybe I'm exatgrating a bit, but man, there sure is a lot of them around here).

Besides being out of my price range, they really don't have anything I'm crazy about. . .

Sofa Search - Ashley

I've never been in an Ashley Furniture store before, but they use them all the time on Clean House, so I figured it would be worth a look. I found a few that I liked online - so I'll be adding Ashley to the list of stores I need to hit in person.

Sofa Search - Badcock

I'll admit, part of the reason I'm including Badcock in my search is that I just like saying it's name. . . deep down inside all of us is a 8 year old boy dying to say Badcock slowly (you know it's true)

The website isn't stellar, but I'm hoping that the store itself fares a little better. . . at least there were a few things online that I didn't hate, I even almost like the gray couch. . . so we'll see.

The Sofa Search

Last week I shared this couch from Ikea that I am in love with. . . but even though it is from Ikea it is still cost more that I can justify spending.

So what is a girl in need* of a new couch to do? Hunt, thats right, I am a girl on a mission - find a comfy yet modern yet cheap couch to replace the oh so small/Emmett battled one I currently own.

*okay, maybe I don't need a new couch, but I sure do want one.

Yes Please

My birthday was last week, so I made my second annual birthday trip to Ikea. While they were out of the chair I planned on buying (for my patio) I found this beauty instead -

Except that at nearly $1400 it is way out of my price range at the moment - but lord is it comfy, plus it's large enough to fit 5 people no problem yet small enough that it wouldn't over power my tiny house. . . so if anyone wants to donate to the Laurendy Really Needs This Couch Fund drop me a line.
