Pesky Antenna Placement

As I've mentioned before, I've been going the antenna tv route for a little while now and while I still don't get ABC, I'm pretty happy with it.  I had been hoping to be able to hide the weird antenna box thingy behind the tv set when I moved my living room around, but alas, it didn't work out that way.

(yes, that is a fake fireplace insert in the lower right corner)

Trying to find proper antenna placement by yourself isn't an easy task. Holding the box thingie on a random spot on the wall until it picks up something, attaching it to the wall in the spot, checking to make sure it is picking up more than just the one station, and then repeat.

I found that blue painters' tape to be a huge help -

I would tape up the antenna, use more tape to mark the position, check for stations and then repeat.  The tape provided an extra hand and allowed me to check multiple placement options without forgetting where I had already checked. I always made little notes on the tape it's self as to which stations came in well.

After I found the antenna's sweet spot, I tried to leave it attached to the wall is a ton of painters' tape (I have a fear of putting holes in my walls), but that didn't work out so well -

I ended up using two 3M hooks in place of screws and it has been holding up just fine.  While it is hard to beat having free tv, using an antenna does come with some quirks.  There are a few stations that only come in if I am sitting in the middle of my sofa and leaning slightly forward and every so often a station just stops coming in for a few days (like this past Saturday in the middle of Psych on ION).

Oh yeah, and I do plan on covering the cord once I figure out the tv stand situation.

Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
