My new mattress came Friday night, and let me tell you, it is the best mattress ever! I am so in love with it right now. Emmett, on the other hand, doesn't like it so much. . . It's a good 3 or 4 inches thicker than my old mattress, and now he can't quite seem to jump on the bed. Looks like it might be time to invest in some doggy steps. . . okay, seriously though, when did I stop cringing at the idea of doggy steps. . .

Considering Emmett's size, 3 or 4 inches is a pretty significant increase :-) So doggy steps of some sort don't seem unreasonable.
I agree, steps of some sort are needed, but I have yet to see any "doggy steps" that aren't plain old ugly. . . so far I've been lifting Emmett on and off the bed, so I may just have to a little more shopping or maybe even build something myself
And how is this best mattress now? I hope it’s still in great condition. Once it started sagging, it’ll only be a matter of time before you need to replace it, but you can give it a quick fix by putting cardboards or something sturdy to support it underneath. It might not be as comfortable, but it will give you time to shop around for a great replacement. Cheers!
