A Peak Into The Future

Still hyped up with plans for my mini winter addition my dad and I got to talking about the goal of the full addition somewhere down the line. The conversation quickly turned to roofing. Most houses in my neighborhood have had some sort of addition and most of them have been done on the cheap going with a flat roof that screams "Hello, I used to be a carport, but now I'm a bedroom" and ends up leaking at some point. The few houses that do have a proper addition end up looking extremely boring - like a giant block. . . a door and a bunch of windows on a plain flat front wall. And well, neither of these options sits well with me. . .

So I did a few super duper quick renderings of the front of my house now, with the mini addition, and with the full addition to see how I could do it better. (Please excuse my utter lack of Photoshop skills)

First up we have my house as it is now with the carport and unusable laundry room:

my house someday now

Next we have my house with the mini addition, while I am leaving the flat roof at this point it is only temporary and I'm going to bump out the front by about 4 feet:

my house someday step 1

And finally we have my house with the complete addition. You can see that the flat roof will be replaced by an angled roof keeping with the mid-century roots of the house:

my house someday complete

Please forgive the color - I swear my house isn't THAT shade of green - again blame my lack of Photoshop ability.

Also if anyone has any ideas they would care to share I am all ears at this point - nothing is set in stone yet.

Looks good! I like how you have it planned out one step at a time! Good Luck.
