Your Emmett Fix

Emmett and I spent the weekend housesitting for my parents. Emmett loves loves loves going on car rides (as you can tell from the silly chihuahua smile above), he also loves chasing my mother's cats, so all and all he had a great weekend.

Weekend Plans

I think that this weekend calls for a massive amount of thirfting. Who knows maybe I'll find the coffee table or buffet of my dreams in the back room of some thrift store.

Here's to hoping.

Oh Yes Please

Wouldn't two of these in front of a sofa work perfectly in place of a coffee table?

West Elm is trying to kill me. . .

If I Had a Million Dollars

I fill my yard with some of these Arper Leaf Chairs.

Oops

So, my big bad plan to use an EXPEDIT storage unit as a buffet hit a little snag. . .

See, I broke the cardinal rule of decorating, I forgot to measure. . . Yeah, so it turns out that the wall that I planned on placing the buffet on is about an inch or so shorter than the EXPEDIT. . .

Not all hope is lost though, my china cabinet (the brown rectangle on the right) is about 11 inches short than the planned buffet wall, so I could move it there and then put the buffet on the china cabinet wall. . . but I'm not sure I like the idea of the china cabinet on that wall, so the search continues.

Big Box Store Art That Doesn't Suck

Normally I skip the "art" aisle when I'm browsing around my local Target, but something caught my eye the other night. . . Something that almost made me break my "no Target / K-Mart / WalMart art" rule -

pink , red

Seriously, how cute are these pictures?! I love, love, love them both. And for under $20 each they are surprisingly substantial in person.

Spotted

I spotted this little buffet beauty at the Home Goods store in Delray Beach.

I really like the size and the clean lines, but I wish it had two more drawers instead of all that wine storage (seriously, who needs 18 bottles of wine just sitting around) and at $249 it is more than I want to spend.

edit: I found out that this piece is originally from Cost Plus World Market and costs about $480 - so finding it for $250 isn't bad at all, still has too much wine storage to do me any good.

Yes Please. . . Well, Ummm, Maybe?

This is one of those "hmm, I think I love this, but I'm not really sure, I could totally hate it too" quilts. . . Right now I think I love it, but ask me again in an hour and I may have changed my mind again.

Pre Laurendy Home Days Blogging

I was doing some digital cleaning and I came across a post a wrote one one of my preLaurendy Home blogs (there were many) and I found this -

Super Sadness

I've been seriously looking at houses (and condos) lately. My mother and I did our own little "House Hunters" day with agent - 8 hours - 9 properties.

It was exhausting but thrilling at the same time, and I found my dream house - a little mid-century modern with org. cabinetry and lots of charm. For the past ten days all I could think about was this house and my many plans for it - paint chip, fabric swatches, and all those tasty tidbits ran through my head 24/7. I didn't sleep
for over a week, as all the "i"s were dotted and the "t"s crossed and then . . . some butt-hole beat me to it!!!

Somewhere between the bank and lawyer and the signing of many pages someone stole my dream house out from under me, and I was (am) sad/angry/violent. . . but then something else happened, last night when I went to bed - I actually fell asleep.

So maybe I'm not ready for my dream house, maybe I need to maybe look at something a bit simpler for now.

It wasn't very long after that I put an offer in on another house (again, one I didn't get) that led me to start this very blog.

See Ya Soon

I am super tired, sun burnt (not that has really anything to do with this) and I have a ton of stuff to catch up on. . . So, I've decided to take the week off. I promise to come back to you next Monday with lots of fresh new posts.

The Light Bulb Chic Look

West Elm's Industrial Bulb Pendant for $99 (bulbs sold seperately) -

Pottery Barn's Edison Chandelier (my personal favorite) for $399 -

Z Gallerie's Loft Chandelier for $299 -

Lovely Room, Ugly Price Tag

I love Jonathan Adler, I really really do. And I love this room he created -

And I love the fact that he gives you the option of buying everything in the room with a click of a button. What I don't love is the room's $16,668.25 price. . . The 25 cents at the end really just burns my toast.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that quality costs, but I don't know many people that can afford this type of quality. I certainly can't.

Hmmm, maybe for my next "Knock It Off" post I should try knocking off this room. . . it's a thought.

Bought. . . X2

I've been in love with Design House Stockholm Carrie Basket for what seems like forever.

So, when The Container Store decided to close these puppies out, so I picked up two. I got them both for less than $20! SCORE!

Overwelmingly Beautiful Furniture

I'm not sure why I decided to google "rustic furniture" (other than the fact that I have design ADD), but I am sure glad I did. Woodland Creek Furniture has some of the most amazingly beautiful furniture that I have ever seen. Seriously, I actually gasped when I saw these coffee tables.

Now I have no idea what any of it costs (you have to email them to get prices) but good lord, it is beyond beautiful.

Your Emmett Fix

Quick Note: I took this picture while we were stopped a traffic light and not while cruising down the road. No chihuahua or human lives were at risk.

Opinions, Everybody Has One & I Want Yours

I am hoping to give the blog a little make-over. I've given myself a deadline of April 2nd (I didn't want to go messing around with things on April Fool's Day). I've played with a bunch of header ideas, and I've narrowed it down to the three below. Now I just need some opinions on with style I should go with -

Gosh Darn Modest Baby

So this was the week that my friends were suppose to find out the sex of their baby (hence the massive invite postings of last weekend), but the baby decided to be modest and kept his or her legs crossed. . . So it will be a full month before we'll know if we're hosting a Pink on Pink or Sock Monkey baby shower.

I know I've said it before. . . but I am sooooooooo not good at waiting. . .

I Fell In Love

Darn it, darn it, darn it. I didn't plan on falling in love. Heck, I didn't even want to fall in love. . . but I did.

I fell in love with this coffee table from West Elm -

But I do not love the fact that it is $250 OVER my allotted coffee table budget. . .

Yep this marble and steel bad boy is $399. . . That's more than half my total new furniture shopping budget.

I can't afford it. I just can't, but that doesn't make me want it any less.
